Sara Scraps' 5 Year YouTubaversary hop

Hello Lovelies!

I'm bringing you something suuuuper fun and special today!  My main girl Sara is celebrating her 5th anniversary as a YouTuber and asked a bunch of us to make this an event to remember!

She is having giveaways on her channel then kicks off a Video Hop with some amazing talent along the way!  (I'll paste the line up at the end of this post!)

So lets bust out the confetti and anything that makes noise and celebrate with Sara!

Meanwhile here is my video and still pics...

As I mentioned in my video, I made my background based on a video Sara shared on YouTube promoting her Mixed Media Backgrounds Vol 1

I hope the title doesn't offend anyone!  It's not like I go around making that gesture (and Fitz doesn't usually either!!)

A New Collab at PinkCraftyMama for 2021

Hello Lovelies!

It's a new year over at PCM Headquarters and I really really want to step things up in 2021 especially where my YouTube channel is concerned.

So...what's happening?

Well The Paper Girls are on a (hopefully temporary) hiatus which you can read about here.  The Rona has caused all sorts of headaches for our families even if none of us have actually been sick with it.

Sara Scraps is taking a (also hopefully temporary) break from Quilters Vibe, but the the rest of us will (again hopefully) keep going without her.  Not in January though,  Well this is a great start isn't it? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Stick It Down remains unchanged and I'm pleased to announce a NEW collab!

My lovely friends Moira (YouTube and Insta) and Carina are powering their way through online classes they've purchased with a different one each Saturday on YouTube and insta.

They've said I can play with them and I'm so excited!  I think this will give me the impetus I need to get rolling and stay rolling!

I have a loose plan of which class I plan to do each Saturday of the month.  It's not 100% locked in yet, but I definitely want to put a dent in the following:

  • Shimelle Classes
  • Online Card Classes
  • Kit and Clowder
  • Brush Lettering
  • AECP Certification
  • Random ones like Layout Palooza or Sara Scraps

I know Moira and Carina are doing some of the above so I may try to co-ordinate.  I also know some classes simply wont translate well to process videos like the brush lettering.  Maybe two scrapbook and two card classes each month?  I dunno!

I had hoped to have had something ready this past Saturday, but I will be ready this week!

And lastly, I hope to do some regular quilting and get my quilty blog up to date (which you can find in the left sidebar).  All this mask making in 2021 has helped me get my quilty groove back!  Who knew?

Love and inspirational scrapbooking!

SID DT Layout for January

Hello Lovelies!

This month our sketch for the Stick it Down Single Page Team is by the lovely Antonia and I REALLY love it!

I can't tell you how I came to chose Book Week for this layout, but I did and what better way to use all the fun and whimsical images from Shimelle's Head in The Clouds and Never Grow Up collections.

Aren't childhood stories all about the dragons and unicorns and mermaids and all those fun things?

I decided to use one of those really REALLY hard to use background papers with a "scene" on them.  Just because I could I guess.  Few of my stories (at least so far) seem to lend themselves to them so I tried not to re-think my decision and just jump in.

I picked the one from the paper pad.  It has the coppery foil accents which make it a bit more special.  I backed it with the burgundy heard paper to tie in the other main colour in the layout (my nieces certainly are stretching me trying to make me use green and burgundy on the same page!).

I do confess to gutting it which I rarely do simply because I love it so much and wasn't sure if I'd want it for mats or embellies.

I opted to literally interpret the instax style frames in the sketch since I have a huge box of them which don't often get used.  Every time feels like a win for me.

I was going to gesso the paper under the pics so the embellies wouldn't look so crazy.  It dried more opaque than it usually does, but most ended up covered anyway.  I figured this could be the part of the sketch that shows stenciled paste or ink.

Embellies

Loads of stickers and die cuts and one or two chipboard bits.   I also fussy cut some books from a Head in the Clouds Up patterned paper.
Lots and lots of Glue Dots (Thanks Columbus Trading!❤️) for sticking down stickers which have been put down and peeled up so many times they might as well have been die cuts!

Enamel pearls and excessive white mist splatter to finish.  Of course!

Mulan and the Green Sheep

Please be sure to see what the other girls made and create a project of your own based on this sketch or one of the others!
