Hi Lovelies!
Today is challenge day for Design Team B for the Through The Craft Room Door Challenge. This is a WEEKLY "anything goes" (any type of project and any theme) challenge with 2 design teams who alternate weeks to make projects showcasing the sponsor who often offers PRIZES!
This week's sponsor is Hetty Clare.
Prize:
This image reminded me of mornings here - I even get up at 6:00 too (although I'm usually greeted by a cat butt).
The cartoon like image suited the theme, but did make colouring more challenging especially when trying to add realistic shading...and even more so when the whole circle was reduced to a size where the individual elements are pretty small!
Speaking of circles, the design of the image reminded me of the current Mojo Monday sketch which is something I really enjoy playing along with.
I threaded twine through the flower (as a nod to the ones on the doona and pillow) and stuck the button down with a Glue Dot.
It didn't look the same in my head as on the paper, but I like the yellow enamel dots at least! 🤦
I'll be honest I don't love the end result. I do love the bright colours in the coloured image, but I can't quite put my finger on what bothers me. Maybe the odd shade of purple of the sentiment? 🤷 I pulled it from my drawer of scrap cardstock and there wasn't much purple to choose from so I ran with it rather than cutting into a fresh sheet.

Wow that's a lot of cats! Thank you for helping out those strays! Thanks also for entering the giveaway and blog love!
DeleteGreat image..Love your card!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and entering my giveaway! Lovely to see a new face!
DeleteThis looks like me in the morning too! I have 3 cats, and one of them loves to eat - a lot! If his dish is empty, he will nibble my fingers to tell me to get up! Your colouring looks amazing! Such a fun sentiment too! As for your question, I have 3 now, and one that has passed over the rainbow bridge about 15 years ago, can't believe it's been that long. Muffin was the best kitty ever, my first kitty - he was always by my side or on my lap, followed me around the house like a little dog. Still miss him and always will. He owned me for 18 happy years! Thank you for your very generous giveaway, Alex! Would be tickled pink to win! I already follow you on all the things!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your long term following! I don't think the holes they leave in our hearts ever really heal. They're such unique little critters! Thanks for the blog love and entering the giveaway!
DeleteAnother fab card - I love all the round elements, starting from the clock in the picture and carring on the theme throughout the card.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to count up all the cats I've had in my life - since childhood I think it comes to 16, excluding "borrowed" ones, although at the moment I just have two borrowed ones. Then of course my Mum and both my daughters have cats too.... if i add all of them up it could come to dozens.
Any cats are good cats! I'm sure the borrowed ones really appreciate the extra love (and food - let's be real!) they get from you! Thanks for the blog love and entering my giveaway!
DeleteI love the way this turned out, Alex, Great coloring and fab job with the sketch. It tells a little story we cat owners know all too well and the sentiment is purr-fect. 10 kitties have graced my life, although 3 of Cashmere's litter were adopted by friends when they were old enough. I just lost my sweet boy Goliath in April and so far actually crafting with or coloring cats has been nearly impossible for me. Even hopping makes me teary eyed, but maybe I can make it through and even manage a project. We'll see. Thanks for your generous giveaway. I'm already a follower all of those places. xxD
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Donna. Losing our furry buddies hurts. I'm so very sorry for your loss. October marks the anniversary of our most recent loss (3 years ago) and I'm working on a layout documenting this. I suspect it may be tear stained also. Thanks for the visit and entering the giveaway!
DeleteAw I love your project, it's like you've seen into my house! We currently have 3 cats and I have had 2 previously that are sadly no longer with us. Jenny x

Hi Jenny! We have the reverse - 2 living and 3 no longer with us! Thank you for the blog love and playing along in my giveaway!
DeleteThis card is just so fun and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooo true!!! LOL! Love the vivid colors you used in your beautiful coloring. Fab work!
ReplyDeleteHow many cats have I had????? TNTC, as they say in the lab: Too Numerous To Count!! Hey, just the ones I have right now are almost TNTC!! Ha. But I am blessed to live in a rural area where the cats have room to run around and also to have a hubby who is a veterinarian and loves cats, too! <3
Thank you so much for playing along in the #2019CatLoversHop!!!

I'm so jelly of your abundant cat family - not gonna lie! I can see how being married to a vet would also help! Thanks for your visit and playing along in my giveaway!
DeleteI almost made a card with this sketch yesterday, but ended up changing the design. You did such a wonderful job! Love all the pretty elements you used and the cat image is just fun & fabulously colored. I have only owned one cat, when I was a child. Right now, our next door neighbor's cat owns us. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Becca! I think all cats own their hoomin slaves! I can see why your neighbour's cat loves you! Thanks so much for the blog love and entering my giveaway!
DeleteHow fun is your card.. I think I resemble this sentiment. =^-^= .. this looks about how my mornings go as well. I love all the details you added to make this extra prrr..fect... It is hard to say how many cats, I have had or taken care of.. I have a soft spot for them... I even feed strays on trips we take, if there are any at the stops we make. having extra food in the car for my furry ones.. .. =^-^=
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having food with you for strays! We have fostered strays a couple of times. One had her family located when we were able to get her to the lost dogs home which was amazing!! If we had decided just to keep her without going through the right channels they may never have known what happened. Thanks for feeding those strays and entering the giveaway!
DeleteI have only had two cats in my life. The last one was 19 when she passed. Then Puddi adopted us. That's a fun image and a great sentiment. Thanks for a generous giveaway. I am long time follower. Don't do instagram. Following you on fb now. I got #10 and #81 so far. Hugz
ReplyDelete19 is a great age foe a cat! I so appreciate my loyal long time followers so thank you! Thanks for your entry and blog love too!
DeleteFortunately, I am a morning person which makes our cats happy. I have owned six cats in my lifetime. Currently we have three at home.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a choice since my son needs to get to school early and we're night owls, so the short time spent asleep makes ours happy too1 Thank you so much for visiting and entering the giveaway!
DeleteWay too funny! reminds me of Simon's Cat and some I've had in the past, too. Thanks for the smiles!!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for the blog love and entering the giveaway! Cats never cease to make me smile too!
DeleteYep, those would be my cats but they'd be there at about 5:00 in the morning, Alex. Darling image and fab coloring!
ReplyDeletehaha actually Pheephs likes to call me around 3-4am to turn on the tap for her (fortunately not every night!) Thanks sooo much for the blog love and playing along in my giveaway!
DeleteI forgot to tell you how many cats I've had but honestly, over a long life time during which I've never been without one, I've never kept track of the count. It has to be close to or even slightly above 75. Rarely have I had fewer than 2 at a time and many times more than 6.
DeleteHaha, this card kind of sums up my feelings on mornings in general! I've had 5 cats over the years, but we are cat-less right now. These rascals remind me of a couple of my old cats, when they were let loose in the craftroom, eek!
ReplyDeleteYour make made me smile, fabulous! I have 2 Kitties all with Chinese names. One of them was a stray. Thanks as always for your generous giveaways.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Love the image and your fabulous coloring!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Leslie
Love To Scrap 2
P.S. If I've counted right, I've had 21 cats in my life. Had two in my younger adult life. Hubby rescued three from a job site about five years ago and when we took them to be spayed they were all pregnant, so we went from four to 15 within a matter of three weeks! We kept three kittens and one mama, and re-homed the other 11 after getting them all spayed/neutered. Rescued a tiny baby from a co-worker during that same time. Adopted two kittens from our local shelter shortly after moving out here to CO from FL. And the newest addition to our family is a rescue last year - an abandoned Siamese left at the home my husband's niece moved into. Whew. I think that accounts for all of them! Love the kitties! <3
DeleteSuch a fun card! So glad you could join me for Mojo Monday!
ReplyDeleteOh this is a wonderful card and a great take on the sketch, Alex. Your image is too funny and so beautifully coloured! The sentiment sums me up completely - fortunately for me our cat chooses to wake my husband in the morning. I think he's given up trying to make me move in the early hours! I have had seven cats altogether, two when I was younger and lived with my parents. At the moment we just have one cat, Casey, who was a stray that we took in - he's so gentle and shy - I really don't know how he survived in the wild. xx
ReplyDeleteLove all the elements of your card, great colouring. we had a cat when I was growing up, Tinker who used to chase dogs off :) We had a cat when we first got married, Pepper, she was beautiful, but she got knocked down. We were so upset we didn't have another.
ReplyDeleteDear Alex
ReplyDeleteLove all the details and coloring on the cat. It si super duper fantastic. we hve three cats and afew strays too in our garden. The female bosses me around all the time. i am joining the giveawy by you and thanks in advance.Blessings to you and your family from Sunny Sri Lanka.
This image sums up how I feel every weekend morning when my two girls wake me up much too early! The coloring on this is fantastic and that sentiment is spot on. I've had 5 cats in my life but can't have one now..hubby and daughter are allergic. So sad because I miss having cats
ReplyDeleteWaking up to two kitties in the morning would be a delight.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hysterical image! Your coloring is fabulous! Such a happy card. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower to your blog. I have one card linked in the hop, but don't know what number. Sorry. Can't check from my phone...
As for how many cats I have had in my life, well, there has rarely been a time when I didn't have at least one, and sometimes many more!, and I am ...cough, cough, cough... years old. ;) Suffice it to say, lots of cats. :D
Fun sentiment on this card and I like the circle design. We only have one cat right now but we have had 9 at one time.
ReplyDeleteI think you’ve done beautifully- and that purple sentiment block picks up the purple you have in your image! I love the image too!!
