S'Up, Mama?

A lot has been going down in Pink Crafty Land since my last post (and little time for tea I can assure you!).

I have been commissioned to make a set of thank you cards, I have end-of-year cards to make for Small Crafty Dude to give to his friends and a couple of cards for specific occasions.

I'm planning and preparing for actual classes between all this and slowly diving into the remaining boxes of randomness which linger from my attempts at organisation.

I have a very hard task mistress as you can see

The other Crafty Cat is pleased with my efforts and he promptly falls asleep among piles of sorted supplies about to be put away.

I've also been working on the card series I promised - hoping to make and post videos every so often.  Right now I have Technical Support (AKA The Crafty Hubster) sorting out lighting because it's aways TOO YELLOW for my liking.

Just look at the cheeky minx mocking me!  She is totally ROFL-ing at one of my ideas.  How rude!!

The upcoming weekend will be devoted to the thank you cards which I'll share in due course and after that I hope to bring you the long awaited series and videos.

Cards for a New Baby Girl Part II

Saturday - It's Baby Day!

While waiting for news I made my card.  I wanted to try something new (there's a surprise!) so I was tossing up between an exploding box or a folding box/pop up.  I decided on the latter since it looks nicer when it's on display.  It also looks deceptively ordinary in its' flat, folded state.

Choosing the patterned papers was not such an easy feat.  The Lullaby DSP from the last annual catalogue co-ordinates really well with the Best Year Ever DSP from last Sale-a-Bration but I wanted to mix it up a little more especially with something that had some cute images.  I came across Hello World by Websters Pages and many of the colours were a good fit and it brought in a few others for variety and plenty of images too.

The down side is that most of the colours were the recently retired In-Colours, but I still had plenty on hand and Strawberry Slush was chosen as the card base.

The hot air balloons and bunting reminded me of the Celebrate Today stamp set and dies so I decided to use one of these balloons as the feature image and fussy cut onesies and smaller balloons from the patterned paper.

A strip of paper and the bow builder punch added a finishing touch

I was also desperate to combine two words ("Totes" and "Adorbs") from the Slang Gang stamp set by Paper Smooches and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

The panel on the back of the card gives plenty of room for a lovely long message.

That's it for cards, but I made a "baby bouquet" again so I'll post pics of that in the coming days.  I have a major craftermath to take care of after several days of frenzied crafting, but after that I'm keen to get back to working on the series I started preparing in late september!

Here's a little animation of the card folded and then open.

Cards For a New Baby Girl Part I

On Friday, the arrival of our new niece was only 24 hours away so my sister Helz and I had congratulatory cards to make.

Hels picked this baby mobile card on pinterest made by Tilly McLeod.  Please visit her blog and check our her amazing crafts.  Thanks for the inspiration, Tilly!

Helz wanted a colour scheme of mint green, pale purple and light grey.  Mint Macaron, Wisteria Wonder and Smoky Slate were perfect.

"Do Stampin' Up! alliterate EVERYTHING?" asks Helz.  Blushing furiously I had to answer in the affirmative.  It's one thing I'm not hugely fond of I have to admit.

Helz wanted to use Copic markers again and picked the animals from a couple of Mama Elephant stamp sets.  She went with a 5x7 inch card to make sure she had enough room and did a great job.

Meanwhile I made a card for our parents to give.  The weather was miserable and I was lacking inspiration so I turned to Pinterest.  I knew I wanted to do a square card but that's it.  I found this card by Stasia Sloma.  The animal print onesies are so on trend and the new mum loves animal print so it was perfect!  Please visit her blog.  Thank you so much for the inspiration, Stasia!

I used the leopard print since it was a smaller scale for the onesies from the Go Wild DSP pad and a couple of different pinks from a couple of different Dear Lizzy collections and some neutral patterns from My Mind's Eye.  I'm not totally happy with the card to be honest and I think Stasia did a much better job with hers.  I love the pearl detail she used!

I might try the design again some time and see if I'm happier with it.

The photos aren't great, but evening was upon us, light was fading fast and we needed to finish!
